Casa Lario's Cuban Restaurant

Here's a little known fact about Cuban Restaurants in Miami; there are something like 10,000. But a few of them stand out and Lario's is one of them.

Casa Larios menu runs the gamut of Cuban cuisine. Some of our favorite menu items include the black bean soup (sopa de frijoles negros) and meat stuffed potatoes (papas rellenas). The papas rellenas are made from seasoned ground beef with a few raisins thrown in to sweeten it up. The mixture is then wrapped in mashed potatoes and fried. The potato outside gets nice and crunchy and the whole thing becomes a tasty treat.

We also tried a couple of salads and the Cuban sandwich. The Cuban was prepared and served perfectly hot all of the way into the middle, which is clearly very important and quite often not the case. The Caesar and house salads were very fresh. The house included a surprisingly nice selection of vegetables that were colorful, fresh and flawlessly displayed.

While we were at Casa Larios for a late lunch, we perused the dinner menu and found several things that we'll be back for. There's a nice selection of seafood including selections made with mahi mahi, king fish, shrimp, lobster and salmon. Land lovers meats include, liver, chicken, steak and pork. There are also burgers and other sandwiches so that you don't feel like you have to leave the kids at home.

All in all we enjoyed our mid-afternoon lunch on the oversized outdoor patio at Larios. The ceiling fans and the shade keep it nice and cool, even on a hot summer afternoon in Miami.
