Located in
Washington D.C.'s Gay Village, Dupont Circle, Level One is casual chic. The
perfect place for a first date or friends meeting for dinner, or on
weekends, Disco Brunch. The music is great and the essence and vibe are pure
Gay & Lesbian pride and high energy. The venue has a large (seasonal) outdoor seating area and
the restaurant is located on the ground floor of a multistory building
directly below the legendary
Cobalt
Nightclub and 30 Degrees Lounge.
The food is quite a production at Level One. The Crabcake Sandwich is made
with creole remoulade and the often recommended Old Bay fries. Even a burger
becomes a creation! Try the coffee rubbed Level Burger
with Tillamook cheddar, pepper bacon and red wine shallot aioli, or whatever
the burger of the month is. We overheard from the table next to us that the
"Pear Salad is to die for. Seriously to die for." It is
made with red wine poached pear, blue cheese, spinach, dried cranberries,
candied walnuts and cranberry vinaigrette. There is a bevy of sandwiches,
soups, salads, serious dinners and appetizers on the
menu that will please just about anyone.
While the dinner is great, the Disco Brunch
at Level One is so good it's worth getting
out of bed with a hangover and my God yes, "It's to die for". Several of the
sandwiches are similar to the dinner menu, but the Banana Nana Fo
Fana French Toast and the Check You On The Rebound
Chocolate Chip Pancakes are nothing short of a legendary night at
Studio 54. There are southern and Western favorites, like the Cool
Beans Burrito and Biscuits and Gravy. Great
hangover eliminators. Less adventurous types will cling to old standards
that include include eggs, bacon, potatoes and bread. Check out the
Disco Brunch Menu.
Chef Allan Javery is your typical New Englander. Having grown up in Connecticut, he was long exposed to classic American cuisine and fresh gourmet ingredients.
The result is that the menu at Level One is an eclectic mixture of standard
and reinvented American favorites.
