Compass will participate in the 2008 July 4th Raft Race at 11am so go out and support your local Gay & Lesbian Community Center as they try to make it across the Lake Worth intracoastal waterway. The City of Lake Worth invites you to the Bryant Park band shell to its 14th annual Rock 'n Roll Fourth of July celebration. Activities feature family fun, great music, food and beverages, crafts and spectacular fireworks beginning at 9 p.m. Kiss Army performs live on stage from 7-10 p.m. Activities include a raft race at 11 am at the Bryant Park Boat Ramp, and the Battle of the Bands from noon on. Miami Beach Bruthaz 2008 is a four-day event that constitutes one of the world's largest gatherings of African-American and Latin gay prides. On Friday July 25th, at Crowbar from 8pm to close the Gazette Brigade will be throwing a party. They won the D division for the Suncoast Softball League. Seattle or Bust is the theme. They are doing fundraisers to help their teammates financially get o the World Series in Seattle, WA. The night at Crowbar we will be featuring Jello Shots, a 50/50 raffle, raffling off other items such as gift cards donated by resturants/compaines, and they will also have the live band Mesh performing. Join the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Tampa Bay Missionary Order the evening of Saturday July 26, at the world famous Gaspar's Grotto in Ybor City for Sr Shirley's PSA Debut, an over the top, talent laden, fun filled fund-raiser event to debut my SafeR-Sex Public Service Announcement project.  This event will be like a Blue Man Group concert; a Variety show all displayed LIVE on a Big Screen. This event will be video taped for use in the upcoming Short Film about the Tampa Bay Sisters, so performers could well land Global Recognition! Eight O'Clock Theatre, the theatre company of Partners N Progress for the Arts, will offer a summer theatre workshop August 2 and 3. The workshop is titled: Directing The Community Theatre Production. The workshop is designed to help directors, actors and technicians better understand the challenges of staging a play or musical. Topics include conceiving the production, casting the production and staging the event. The language, manners, and functions of the director will be explored. The class is limited to twelve participants. The class will be presented over two days: Saturday, August 2, from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with a lunch break, and Sunday, August 3, from Noon until 4 p.m. The class will be held at 801 Main Street, Safety Harbor, Florida. Tuition is $200.00.

This workshop will be taught by Elizabeth Spicer, Producing Director of the Paradise Acting Company. Ms. Spicer has staged over two hundred plays and musicals. She holds an M.F.A. in Acting and Directing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She serves on the board for the Florida Community Theatre Festival. She is a longtime member of the Actors Equity Association. This workshop is designed to assist in better understanding and participating in community theatre productions. EOT is seeking to bring the finest theatrical experience possible to volunteers as well as veterans.
