Cult
filmmaker David Decoteau takes the classic Edgar Allan Poe short
story, "The Fall of the House of Usher" and adds lustful images of
gorgeous young men in peril in this entertaining horror thriller. A
perfect choice for Friday the 13th!
Victor is a charming and handsome young man. He decides to visits
his childhood friends Roderick and Madeline Usher at their crumbling
family estate. He is shocked to discover that the two are decaying
as quickly as their dilapidated mansion. Victor soon discovers that
the only thing keeping the
Ushers alive is a terrifying secret...that their
house feeds off the souls of the living, and that he's about to
become the next victim.
Decoteau has established a following for his particular time of
campy horror films full. His signature style combines various men in
states of undress and homoeroticism. The House of Usher is no
exception to this rule. Sit back and enjoy a new twist on an old
favorite and the eye-candy that make it worthwhile. |

Miranda
Bliss is a religiously conservative, married southern woman. Along
with her sister Lucy, she runs a small Christian catering business
called Fishes and Loaves in a tightly-knit community in Georgia.
Both sisters have dreams of motherhood, but both are encountering
obstacles in their path.
One late night when watching a special about the illness that took
her sons life, Miranda learns that one of the leading doctors
spearheading the research, Dr. Sandy Price Owens and his partner
Terry, are trying to find a surrogate mother so they can have a
child. Though Miranda is religiously opposed to gay marriage and her
husband is a staunch anti-gay activist, she hears the voice of God
telling her that it is her purpose to help these men have a baby.
Without telling her husband, Miranda emails the
couple and volunteers to be the surrogate.
The men are elated but sassy Terry refuses to take any chances.
Unexpectedly, Terry shows up at Miranda's deep-south home to
micro-manage her pregnancy and refuses to leave; Miranda must create
a ruse to keep the truth secret and keep the flamboyant Terry out of
sight and out of the why-not an easy task considering that Terry is
African-American dance choreographer-double ranties in this sleepy
southern town. Starring MAD TV alum Orlando Jones and directed by
Oscar and Emmy nominated director Ron Satlof, Misconceptions is a
sweet and fun romp about overcoming prejudice and creating family. |

After
Julia is sent to the women’s penitentiary for the murder of her
lover, she gives birth to a son. Bringing up a child in prison is
difficult, but Julia understands that the only thing that matters to
her is this new being that accompanies her now, that there is no
life for her beyond that of her child. She soon learns that she must
depend on her the other inmates for support, friendship, and love.
Her fellow inmate Marta becomes her ally; her mother Sofía, her
opponent.
One attempts to teach her how to be a mother to her
child in the least appropriate place; the other wishes to take over
rearing the child, so that he should grow up outside prison, in
freedom. The duel between Julia and her mother expresses the dilemma
of what is better for the child, to be brought up next to his mother
in prison, or without her, but in freedom.
An official selection of both the prestigious Canne and Toronto Film
Festival, this well-made drama has awed audiences all over the
world, |

Manuel
(or Manuela as he prefers) is going through a life crisis. His
longtime boyfriend Tono has recently left Manuela confused and
unsure of his future. He takes comfort in his job at a San Juan
dance club where he performs in drag. Manuela also finds support
from a Faraona his transsexual co-worker and Coca his best
girlfriend.
Coca has just discovered she's pregnant which is a little problem.
The father is a military man that she had a brief fling with. she's
not sure how to get in touch with him and she's really not sure what
she's going to tell her straight-laced conservative parents.
But then Coca gets an idea. CDan't Manuela revert
briefly back to a Manuel and pose as her fiance? That way her
parents might not be so angry when they find out about her
pregnancy. Manuela is hesitant at first but agrees to do it for his
friend.
Now Manuela is going to butch it up for Coca's parents while still
trying to hold on to himself. However, when things begin to spin out
of control and this comedy of errors starts to include a shotgun
wedding, a confused neighbor and several cases of mistaken identity
it is up to Manuela to set things straight... in a manner of
speaking. |

In
a quiet suburb of Orlando Florida, three young men struggle to
escape the wreckage of their pasts and create new lives for
themselves. Their new home is CollegeBoysLive.com, a voyeur webcam
house rigged with 32 cameras, here their every move is watched by
thousands of paying members. The site's creator claims
CollegeBoysLIve.com is simply about showing that "it's okay to be
gay." But the neighbors insist it's a pornographic storehouse and
sue to have them evicted.
Filmed across a six month period, College Boys Live takes us into
the world of the boys who are described as 'always ready and always
horny' as they
live their lives in the goldfish bowl of voyeur
internet sex sites. This intriguing documentary delves into the
complex and often disturbing pasts of the houses residents while not
shying away from depicting the reality of their day-to-day
living-from internal squabbles to obsessed site subscriber who
schedules their lives around watching the boys activities. Described
by Variety as "exerting a bizarre and dramatic fascination by
observing that Orwellian experiment-cum-entertainment".
This intimate and provocative documentary examines a complex
subculture, but at its heart is the universal search for family and
acceptance. |

This
gritty, cutting-edge drama is a part of a new genre from
contemporary queer filmmakers that shows another side of gay life.
Shank is no cozy affair; void of the cliché plot devices typical of
a coming of age story, this is a film that is refreshingly shocking,
very explicit and painful at times.
?Yet under the surface of violence, hatred and confusion there is
also more than a streak of tenderness. Cal is an 18 year-old member
of a gang that wiles its days away in a haze of drugs, sex and
random acts of violence. He is desperate that the other members do
not discover that he is struggling to come to terms with being gay.
This becomes difficult due to his unspoken desire for his best
friend, another, more violent member of the gang.
A chance encounter with a French Student who treats
him with love and kindness gives tough thug Cal his first meaningful
relationship. The other gang members are reluctant to lose one of
their own, and so engineer an explosive confrontation that leaves no
one unscathed and everyone traumatized and transformed.
Winner of the Roger Walker Dack Award for Emerging Talent in Queer
Cinema, this brilliant debut from 21 year-old director Simon Pearce
is compelling, completely unique, and full of energy. Its fresh take
on a slice of British gay youth culture makes it a must-see for
anyone who loves movies that shake you up. |
