New River Fine Art
on Las Olas was the scene of the Modern Masters Exhibition. The
exhibition features works from: Chagall, Miro, Dali, Matisse, and
Picasso that features not only prints, but ceramics, and oils. They
thought of every detail, between the Spanish Flamenco music, the wine
and cheese all to make this even special, and flavorful.
Marc Chagall (1887-1984)
Chagall was born in Russia and moved to France in 1920 where, through
the use of design, romanticism, and symbolism, he created a unite visual
language. Chagall’s dreamlike landscapes with floating lovers, bright
bouquets, and whimsical animals are among the most beloved images from
this period of art history. While much of his work is included in the
permanent collection of major museums, Chagall’s important contributions
also include his masterpieces at the Paris Opera House and Jerusalem’s
famed stained glass windows.
These are a few of my favorite pieces from his collection:

Joan Miro (1893-1983)
Miro was a Spanish Artist whose emblematic images make a naïve,
childlike impression at first sight. Barcelona born, Miro lived mainly
in Mallorca and his deep connection to Catalan heritage is reflected in
symbolism so prevalent in his work. While closely associated with the
Surrealist Movement, Miro developed an artistic style all his own. Miro
was a prolific print maker, working in etchings lithography, and
innovating printmaking through the use of carborendum.
These are some of my favorite pieces:

Salvador Dali (1904-1989)
Dali was born in the small town of Figueras, Spain and he soon
established himself as a principal figure of the Surrealist Movement
which explored the world of the unconscious that is recalled during our
dreams. With a flair for the dramatic, Dali created a character of
himself that was larger than life and the Surrealist Movement itself.
This exhibition will feature both beautifully hand colored etchings and
original works of art from the Argillet Collection.

Pablo Picasso (1881-1973)
Picasso dominated Western art in the 20th Century. Before
his 50th birthday, the Spaniard had become the very prototype
of the modern artist as a public figure. No painter before him had such
a mass audience in his own lifetime. He was born in Malaga, Spain and,
by the time he died in France, he changed the world of art in a variety
of mediums, including painting, sculpting, ceramics, mosaics, stage
design, and graphic arts. Not satisfied with the prints of his day,
Picasso invented new and innovative printmaking techniques that changed
the course of printmaking. There was scarcely a 20th century
movement that he did not inspire, contribute to or-in the case of
Cubism, which, in one of art history’s great collaborations, he
co-invented with Georges Braque-beget. Quite simply, as well as being a
force of culture, Picasso was a force of nature.
