Fort Lauderdale
& Wilton Manors Bars and Nightclubs Gay and
Lesbian bars are concentrated in three areas of
Fort Lauderdale; downtown, Wilton Manors and
Fort Lauderdale Beach. The majority of bars and
Gay and Lesbian owned shops are
in Wilton Manors, a small "Island City" that is
surrounded by water and the city of Fort
Lauderdale.
All three nightclub areas
as well the
LGBT Guesthouses and
major hotels
are all within a couple miles of each other, so
getting around by cab is relatively inexpensive.
The
bus system is extensive in the downtown
Fort Lauderdale area
and
water taxis run on the city's numerous
canals and the New River. Fort Lauderdale is
connected to Miami's
Metrorail and
Metromover (elevated trains)
by a three county rail system,
Tri-Rail, that runs 60
miles from West Palm Beach to Miami. All three
international airports (MIA,
FLL,
WPB) and
Port
Everglades (cruise ships) are also connected and
easily accessed by
Tri-Rail.

A long time
tradition, Bill's Filling Station,
was once on the edge of Wilton Manors and has now moved to a new location right
in the thick of the action! The new location respects the tradition of Bill's
Filling Station while increasing the capacity in a state of the art facility.
There's a good sized dance floor and the new Mustang Lounge.

Bill's serves great burgers and
we love the onion rings (Bill's
food review here). You also
might try dining at Courtyard
Cafe, open 24 hours on weekends,
next door. A short walk south is
Island City Bistro and a couple
of blocks north is Rosie's Bar
and Grill. Of course, Bill's
sister, Georgie's Alibi is
located right across the Wilton
Drive.
To the Moon Marketplace three
doors down carries a huge selection
of candy, snacks, cards and novelty
gift items. Also nearby is Ruff
Riders with jeans and T's. |

Boardwalk is Ft Lauderdale
and Wilton Manors most popular
Gay go-go club. The Boardwalk dancers are really hot; twinks, boys and men
that come in all sizes, shapes and
ethnic backgrounds. There are always
several dancers cruising the club
offering lap
dances. Gay porn stars make frequent appearances.

Block Party: Boardwalk now
serves great food in their Beefcakes
restaurant. We love the wings, Kobe
Beef Burger and this huge appetizer
sampler platter. Also nearby are
smaller neighborhood bars like
Monkey Business and the Stable. |

Peter Burke's
monthly Gay Tea Cruise sets sail from
downtown Fort Lauderdale on the first
Sunday of the month. Hundreds of guys
gather for what has become one of the most
unique events events ever to sail a waterway. Shows include drag
performances and hot male strippers.
There's also liquor, raffle and a DJ playing top 40 and
anthems.

Gay Tea Cruise let's off just a
few blocks from
Sea Monster, the site one of
Fort Lauderdale's Sunday Tea Dances.
You'll find a wide variety of
restaurants and shops along Las Olas
Boulevard, including Shop 601.
We recommend Himarshee Grille if
you're in the mood for something a
little classy. Himarshee Grille is
located on the opposite side of the
river near Voodoo Lounge. For
something a little more casual try
The Downtowner located next door

It's no surprise that the Georgie's
Alibi holds the title as Wilton Manors longest running Gay bar. From car
washes, CD and DVD release parties to drag magicians, there is something going
on at the Wilton Manors Alibi almost every day. Patrons are served from three bars and there
is a full kitchen serving burgers, salads and other convenient foods.

Block Party: Georgie's Alibi
recently revamped the menu and
brought in a new chef so there's no
need to go anywhere else. But if you
must, try Humpy's pizza just
a few doors down. Also in the 'Alibi
Plaza' look for Bottoms and Tops,
Ball and the high end Icon.

Johnny's
is a Gay male stripper bar in Fort Lauderdale Florida
that Genre Magazine recently named the "Best
Male Stripper Bar" in the United States.
The club is known for it's "Twink" dancers, but new ownership is bringing in
a wider variety of talent including major porn stars. Bel Ami superstar
Ralph Woods tends bar.

nightlife scene. The bar has an urban flavor. Most of the clubs in WilMa are

legendary
Sea Monster Nightclub
has reopened.
Former owner Toni Barrone has given the club, once a favorite
nightspot for travelers
from around the world, an incredible makeover. The
lights and sound in this club were done by
the "dream team" who's work includes Heaven
in London and Space in Miami.

Voodoo's T Dance takes place in downtown Fort
Lauderdale. The T dance takes two rooms, one
an outdoor patio called Rodman's Rehab
and the main room with a dance floor and
stage. T dance ends around 11 and Life's
a Drag, a show featuring Fort

impersonators takes over.
